about laura

Hi there!  My name is Laura and I grew up in Oregon.  I love all things outdoors and adventure.  I studied English, Philosophy, and Education at Oregon State University.

In 2006, thinking California was the last place on earth I wanted to live, I packed up my bags and moved down to southern California for what I thought would be a quick 2 years to go to seminary.  However, as happens so often in life, God had a much better plan in store for me.

2 years turned into 5 years to complete my Master of Arts degree in New Testament studies at Talbot School of Theology, and in the meantime I started my first job working in the local church.

Now, 10 years later, I’m still soaking in the sunshine here in Orange County, love my job and love my church, and am incredibly grateful for my community of family and friends.

I have the privilege of serving on the small groups team at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California.

One of my favorite verses is Galatians 2:20 —

For I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.”

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to say hi in the comment section!

    1. Great to meet you Sophia! Thanks for stopping by! Love meeting someone else who loves the sunshine as much as I do 🙂 I’ll look forward to reading some of your posts!

  1. Hey Laura, I ran into your article in CT about leadership and thot: no way, can that be our Salem Laura Copeland, and sure enough it is you. So cool to see what you’re doing now and how God is using you!!! Blessings, Steve Dangaran/Salem Alliance Church
